Barnsley got a mention . Not in a very good light I'm afraid. Something about local Ref count is down to 53 in the area. Programme was about the abuse refs get at both local and professional levels.</p>
I didn't see it but I know there is a big shortage of referees in the Barnsley Sunday Leagues. Some of the lower divisions never have a qualified ref.
what channel was this on? and does anyone know if it will be repeated. would be a worst nightmare being a ref. i reckon the problem we have is that no one wants to do it apart from the ego-testicle people. yes that is a word. so therefore we get refs who arent the best.
Is it any wonder that there is a shortfall of referees with the abuse that they receive as highlighted last night. The referee for instance whose daughter was suffering with cancer. Imagine how you would feel if someone in your work capacity came upto you and said " I hope your daughter dies of this cancer" simply because they disagreed with a decision you had made. Unbelievable.
RE: what channel was this on? Was on ITV after the Chelsea game. Saw the first half of it about Anders Frisk packing in after the Barca-Chelsea match when it was said that the Barca manager had gone into the refs room at half time. Mentioned him receiving death threats at home.
It was certainly interesting to hear the refs comments while they were on the pitch. The scottish ref made me crease up. "Speak to me like that again sonny and you're away"
RE: what about david ellery Yeah - telling Tony Adams to stand up when he's talking to him. Priceless!
