whats it like, day to day? i get a load of agencies ringing me saying they've seen my CV and wonder if I'm interested in a role as a recruitment consultant. I don't work in recruitment. I don't have much of a clue what's involved. is it just high pressure sales - but selling people?

Not worked directly as a recruitment consultant but worked within recruitment before in an admin role.

The consultants are sales people with targets to hit and it can be quite high pressured especially if you don't hit your targets. You need to be confident in cold calling and only do it if you enjoy sales - it's not like a HR role, the majority of it is sales and trying to earn as much money as possible from clients etc...

If that's your thing you can make some good money through commision.

    Good luck

Hi, yeah i work in recruitment currently an ops manager dealing in engineering personnel.
It's a interesting job no day the same, and can pay well not just on commission.
The hardest part of it is selling people, the Problem with that is people have there own mind and decided that they dont want to go to work then they won't,
They'll turn phone off so you cant get hold of the and give you an excuse that you've heard time and time again.
Then you have to explain to the client and find someone else (if given the chance and they've not gone elsewhere for staff

OK thanks for this fellas. Saved me some time and petrol. don't think I'll follow up this route as I already work in a high pressure sales & customer service environment and I loathe it.
