    The management thereof rather than as a code monkey.

    Silly answers from Micky Finn and Airtyke will be sneered at.

    I might be able to help mate

    Are you after information on the <span style="text-decoration: underline;">management</span> of the <span style="font-weight: bold;">development </span>of <span style="font-style: italic;">software?</span> I might need a bit more info, not being funny mate but there's lots of software languages out there.  You know we speak English and French and German and stuff?  Well programs talk languages too.  I reckon you can do pretty much owt with B.A.S.I.C.  The first program I ever wrote was on an Amstrad in a popular retailers outlet in 'tarn:

    10 Print &quot;W.H Smith are wonkers&quot;
    20 &quot;Go to 10&quot;

    It was hilarious.  And hopefully you can see from that that pretty much anything is possible?

    Tell me, does that help any mate?  I don't want to get too techy.

    And before you start, forget it, just buy me a pint like.

    Cheers,
    Ace

    Used to be Director of a software development and consultancy company and handled all the project management, although I'm semi-retired now and just do contract work.

    Oye - less of the code monkey.

    Those that can - do
    Those that can't - project manage!

    And don't even get me started on those that change requirements halfway through development but forget about telling the person writing the program!

    Well said that man

    We've more chiefs than indians here.</p>

    They had a meeting yesterday to work out the time frame for the new product .... not one engineer in there, just managers ... how the hell they can decide how long the project will take without input from the people that will actually do the work is beyond me. [IMG] [IMG]  ......... they're [[IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]] </p>

    Deja Vu.

    I thought exactly the same.

    Isn't BASIC an acronym? Binary Algorithmic Symbolic Interchange code or summat?

    I thought you were an ADA man.

    And what about those who Manage AND do, but get no brief to start with....

    and then half way through the project then get told of other developments and priorities....
