Can anyone recommend areas of Lanzarote? Or any particular Apartments for Self-Catering?
On the otherhand .... any ones you wouldn't recommend? :D

    Any help would do nicely!

    Cheers

Think most of the island is windy. Was'nt the 1st time we went. 1st 3 days not a breath of wind and they were having a heatwave with temperatures at 38. When the wind did turn up it was a blessing
I really liked it and are looking to go back next year (a little un arriving this year stopped us going last year and this)

    Stayed in Playa Blanca

It faces across to Fuerteventura and seemed a nice and white washed resort-cum-little port, so a nice balance of quiet and yet a few quietish bars etc. The landscape, however, reminded me of Barnsley Main muck stack, but that is true of almost all the Canary Islands because of their volcanic history. Playa Blanca for me - relaxing by the pool; dip in the sea; stroll round the harbour - I could just go in your place, if you don't fancy it.

Don't forget to visit the Timanfaya volcano - get there early.

    Great holiday - enjoy!

I own a villa in Lanzarotte and go there 3 or 4 times a year. What are you looking for from your holiday? if you want nightlife then you have to go to Puerto Del Carmen, If you want a relexing time chilling out then you should look at Playa Blanca or Costa Teguise. THere are not many appartments in Playa Blanca as it tends to be all Houses, however I do know that Thomson have some self catering apartments in Playa Flamingo. To be honest they were not my cup of tea, they are very basic but they are clean most have see views and they are only a short walk from the resort centre where there are plenty of Bars. As for the Wind question, Lanzarote is only 80 miles from Morocco therefore the wind is a blessing. It is a pleasent breeze that makes decieves? on most days the air temp is around 25 - 28 but in reality the temp is 10 degrees hotter and soon as you get out of the wind you discover this. Hope this helps.

im going with the boyfriend 4 his birthday (20). his job/me at uni/working when back home, prevents us from going anywhere basically, so because hes managed 2 get a weeks holiday, we thought we'd go away, relax, just get away for a week. Not particularly bothered about nightlife, etc. Just a weeks get-away on our own.
With us going self-catering, we need some restaurants/food places nearby.
    Week of 22ndNov - 29th we're going.
We don't particularly want to pay more than £600 between us as neither can afford more. So we know we won't get a 'perfect conditioned' place.
As long as we're not completely isolated and get a good deal in end we aren't bothered.

    Cheers everyone :)

Try Ocean club holidays they have some great apartments in Puerto Del Carmen some on the beach and some about 10 min walk to the bars, price for a 1 bed apt will vary between 200 to 300 pounds depending on time and location, they can also book your flights.

Seriously at the time you are going you could get a some brilliant deals for hotels all inclusive, in Nov the hotels are running at 20%/3o% occupancy. I really think you could get a deal for your £600 flights and everything thrown in. Pop in to a travel agent and have them do a search for you. THe real down side of Lanzarotte is the cost of flights as you will be pushed to find much under £150 return even booking now, there is a real capacity issue at the airport. If you take up this option and are looking at Playa Blanca let me know what you are being offered and I could give you the low down on the hotel. I know most of them.

Re: i worked in lazarote for 8 months

costa tegs quite windy not that bad especailly this time of the year, its mainly all inclusive hotels there but still got alot of resturants, not much of a night life but good for families, puerto del carman is the magaluv of the island night life mainly young ones drink more expensive the costa teg. n playa blanca is really quiet but maily for people wanting to chill n sun bath, i worked for mytravel as a island manager but we mainly delt with all inclusives and it was in 2005 so n not sure what wud be the best self catering place to stay but hope this helps
