I've been barrrred from there I would recommend the national slate museum Llanberis no honest its good and free! plus the power gen place next door
If you want to travel inland a little then there's always Caernarvon Castle, that worth a look. But it all depends on where you are staying in NW Wales and how far you wish to travel.
On a good day I can see the Lleyn Peninsula from my desk. Today, it pissing down. Classic Welsh weather.
I lived and worked in Bangor for about a year, several years ago. I am sure it has changed a lot since I was there. At the time it was quite an expensive place to live. My landlady used to do her weekly shopping in Liverpool because it was cheaper. However it was a lovely part of the country. As for things to see, it depends on what you want to see. There are castles, beautiful gardens, lots of nice beaches on Anglesey. The old Jail in Beaumaris is (was) quite interesting. At the regatta week, the sight of all the yatchs racing up and down the Menai Strait is quite good.
