Looking for recommendation of a hotel, one of Henrietta, Pyramida or Charles preferably as it's a package deal with one of them. Is it a nuisance being a few km from the centre or is the transport fairly cheap/regular/easy to understand? Oh, and how do you get to the centre from the airport and how much would it cost?! Cheers!
You want to be fairly close to the action. They have an underground which is OK for getting in, but going back to the hotel in a cab can be pricey- they always rip Brits off.
Hotel wise- its not much more expensive in the City than outside- there's hotels for all budgets.
If there's a group of you look at booking at appartment- they work out so much cheaper and are usually good quality.
Last time we stayed we stopped in a botel- literally a barge moored on the river. You can do better mind they can be a bit manky.

Been twice... although i was wrecked both times and don't remember much.
Just booked flights and caught a service bus to somewhere before getting on the underground into the centre of Prague.
On neither occasion did we book a hotel, we just went on the off chance. First time stayed in a hostel, which wasn't pretty, second time stayed in a hotel but just walked into the first one we saw and booked the room there and then for a couple of nights.
Thats about as much use as a **** flavoured lolly-pop.

Went a couple of weeks ago Taxi from airport to hotel in centre was 650 Krona (about £15) Decent metro and trams. If you are a bit out of the centre then try the bars close to where you are staying, we did that first time and there were some cracking bars and cheaper than in centre. Recommend Hotel Chodka for one out of the centre. We stayed this time at Hotel Melantrich, excellent location between Wenceslas Sq and the Old Town Sq. Don't go to bars/restaurants around the aquares - they are a rip off. Try the ones down little side streets. Varied from 70p to a quid for beer, a few do darker versions of their beers that are well worth sampling. Food is very reasonable. Between 2 of us over 3 nights we spent just £200 on food and drink etc!
stayed on the outskirts... ... about a 5 min tram ride away at the hotel julian on the castle side of the river vlatava. trams were easy to use. as has been said stay away from eating on the squares. loadsa stuff down the side streets. wenceslas square is a big, big disappointment unless you want expensive and crap tourist trappings. cab from the airport was about 12 quid. don't know what you're going for (culture or piss up) but all in all a fantastic place to visit.
Went last Friday Stayed at Hotel Central which was 3 minutes from the Old Town Square, and well placed for the Jewish District and Wencless Square. The hotel was spotless and the hotel bar was very good and have some nice bars near by but was on a quite street. You will enjoy.
