Yep Had Sunday dinner there which was nice, disappointing selection of real ale though, they only had Tetley's on but it was a decent pint.
For what? and when? Meal? real ale? - depends what you want. Wentworth is a decent place to go though
George & Dragon at Wentworth do food (not eaten there though) but usually a decent selection of real ale
Don't take any kids with you Pub is OK with good food, but the powers that be there are miserable so and so's who don't like children
Never had a problem when i've had my son with me I like the Strafford Arms. It's my main pub when i come over. Very good food and good service. Landlord will be better after he's had his op. Used to be John Denis's local.
Depends how old the kids are Our cricket club is right behind the Strafford. We used to go in there after games but it was a problem when we had junior players playing as they were not allowed in below about 16 years old. Many a time I have seen families turned away for Sunday lunches because they had a child with them. In the end we built our own bar at the cricket club and we rarely go in the Strafford now because of the kids issue. If you looked at the accounts for our cricket bar you would realise how much they have missed out!!!!! Having said all that it is a really nice pub especially in winter when the log fire is going. Seen John Dennis in there loads of times.
They havn't got a childrens license. That's the reason. My son has always been allowed in there since he was 10.
RE: They havn't got a childrens license. Been going in there regularly for over 35 years. The only time I have seen anyone as young as 10 in there was when they were just nipping to the loo. I have seen many arguments with customers about the issue, especially with our visiting teams who often bring their kids with them, only to find they are not allowed in. It's a ridiculous attitude this day and age. You must be very honoured if your young 'un is allowed in.
That's the other side of the coin At the Bluebell in Dodworth that is a nightmare. I once saw a waitress carrying two bowls of hot soup trip up over a toddler who got under her feet. The soup went everywhere and it could have been a disaster for the toddler. The mum gave the waitress a right mouthful of abuse. Now let me think, I wonder who was really to blame..........?
