Or are we better sticking to Canaries or Cyprus?

From the woman who has broken legs crossing the road in Leeds when its snowing

I think a bit of winter sun is safer

    You'd be OK on ski's

Its the walking round the resort thats the biggest problem for you

I know more people who have seriously injured themselves whilst not skiing than whilst actually having the planks strapped to their feet

Would need snow shoes or I may get mislaid in snow drifts

Still prefer some heat on my face this time of year

I think that thread was a bit harsh of France

For a purely skiing point of view the French Mega resorts have a lot to offer - especially the 3 valleys La Plagne Les Arcs (though the connecting lifts broke) and espace Killy

The ski areas - ski convenience and fact you can drive there in a day (from southern England) more than compensate for the disaster off the slopes. They have even got better at manageing queues and some of the lift attendents even manage a cheery Bonjour these days

Austria - Mountain restaurants, off piste activity in the evenings etc different class of course - but I do dislike having to get a lift up and down to start end the day , and having to fly.

Going back to Zell am Ziller - the place I went for my first ever ski holiday 20 years ago - havent been back since and we fancied trying it to see how it was now we can do more than slide down a blue run in a snow plough

Well it was a bit tongue in cheek

But Austria is second to none for the overall experience in my view, but then I speak the lingo which helps a lot with socialising.
