How is it? Are the trains reliable? Can you get parked at the station?

    Thanks.

They have been when I've needed to but it's quicker and cheaper in car

I have done it but don't currently. You can generally get parked if you get the 7:38 or earlier, but will have difficulty if you're going later.

I do and it's not too bad overall. Been doing it over a year and only had a couple of issues with cancellations/delays so can't complain about that.

In terms of parking, I get the 7:12 and more often than not the car park's full if I turn up any later than 7:00 but that's just my experience.

Also, it's usually the old bus style trains so sometimes an issue with overcrowding.

Trust HighamRed over me, I haven't done it in 18 months or so.

When I used to be at Sheffield Hallam uni, I used to park the car near Oakwell on the street and walk to the station as the car park is pretty much full by half 7.

If I get the 0658 to Sheffield there are no more than a dozen spaces at best. I get 0814 to Sheffield most days and park towards The Mount on back streets.

2 trains an hour I think to Leeds but get the fast one!

Thanks all for your comments, much appreciated. Sounds like car parking is a struggle after 7.

I used to drive to Hemsworth (Fitzwilliam) and catch the 07:12

Plenty of parking and usually seats on the train.

Best thing about Fitzwilliam was it was the last station to get four trains an hour to / from Leeds rather than 2.

And as you're inside the West Yorkshire subsidised fee area it was cheaper by about £4. .

but this was 4 years ago.

I did Barnsley - Nottingham for the last 16 months.
Fairly reliable, had a few issues but you expect it now and again but usually they were fine.
You can park there, you have to get a ticket (free) when you buy your train ticket.

I use to park at sandal station, faster line from Doncaster and a lot cheaper by crossing into West Yorkshire as said above, can even cycle there in the summer

Looked at Sandal mate, what's the parking like in the car park there? And the surrounding streets? Thanks

Better driving now, I'm in Leeds city centre within 25-30 mins of leaving J37 with the new lanes and seen a great deal of savings in petrol with no stop-start for a hour..

Go from Darton. no issues parking there or back of the post office.

You can get off the slow train at waker and get on the fast train that comes in behind it.
