gaffa's stitched me up n got me working satdy morning,
got a mate to help me out n should be setting off owt between 10 n 11
AA says it can be done in 3hr 40,dont mind doing 90mph+as long as poss to shave time off that
but is 4hrs 30 do-able with the expected traffic?
my logic is that most of it will already be parked up by the time i hit taffyland!

set off no later than 9.30 to stand a chance.

traffic in Cardiff will be the main problem.

On a clear run I would haver said 3 1/2 hours would do it but murphy's law would predict failure to see the KO.

    Duty swap?

Long time I was there, but we used to swap or do 2nd half of the duty for others and pay them ourselves.

The only traffic you will be stuck in is Footy traffic,

trouble is you have to go down the M42 and it can get quite busy down that road.

Once did Bridgend to Hemsowrth in just over 3hrs with a stop!

Your best bet is to drive to Cheltenham, Gloucester, or Newport, then get train in, 1 hr from Chelt or Glos, 15 mins fron Newport

When I had a car *cries* I did, and it took me about 4 hours... but there was no football traffic to compete with that day!! I really wouldn't like to risk setting off much after 9...

I work in Swansea quite a lot and can do the journey in 4 without stopping and tonking it quite a lot.

A lot will depend on the route you take and there's pros and cons.

taking the M50 / A449 (turn off the M5 at Strensham services), the pros are that the M50 is very quiet and the distance is shorter, but the cons are that you may needa road angel to risk 90mph on the A449 as it can have mobile camera units on it.

However, sticking to the M5 / M4 would seem to have disadvantages in that it will attract more traffic, there's big roadworks on the M5 / M4 intersection (or there was in March when I last went, been there months), and there may be a queue at the Severn Bridge toll booths.

Catching the train from Cheltenham or Gloucester does not seem to help really as the last train that gets to Cardiff before kick off leaves either Glocuester at 13:22 and gets in at 14:20 or leaves Cheltenham at 13:22 and gets in at 14:45.

If you're really struggling then a train leaves Gloucester at 13:58 and gets into cardiff at 15:07. You should make Gloucester in 3 hours at a push.

A train leaves Bristol at 14:07 and gets in Cardiff for 14:45. the problem is that, by the time you've got into Bristol city centre off the motorway you may as well as turned off the M5 the other way and you'd nearly be in Cardiff.

It's a tough call - hope the above is useful.
