The ones that look so magnificent at the Tower of London. Ordered x 3. They've sold out now. Remarkable.

I agree completely. I'd make it a criminal offence to profit out of something like this.

Me too. I couldn't or in fact wouldn't flog mine for no end of profit. If I did, I'm the type of person who'd just donate it straight back.

I got two - 1 for me and 1 for my Dad. Neither will be sold on. We lost a relative in the Great War and have been to the battlefields to see his last resting place. A young lad from Barnsley who prior to 1914 probably thought Lancashire was a foreign land and died from a sniper's bullet only a few months before the War ended.

Great idea but only one third of the £25 for each poppy goes to the charities. Somebody is already making a fortune out of it.

I'm not sure they are. I read that the only money not going to charity is overhead costs such as admin and associated costs.

I live in me own little world, so I had no idea what you were talking about. Just looked it up and that is absolutely brilliant.

Yes. But that makes up £16 million!! £4million is VAT leaving £12 million "costs". It cost about £2 million to make the poppies and an estimated £2 million to organise sales and packaging. A venture capitalist loaned several million to start the whole thing off and it's guessed that he might make £3 million out of it. Leaves £5 million split between the desgner's company and the Tower of London.

I've got one, I'm not selling it, but on what grounds would you make it a criminal offence? It's a piece of an art installation, people buy and sell art all the time, sometimes making a profit, sometimes making a loss. I'm struggling to see what's criminal in that.

Took the kids in the week and it was really crowded but worth seeing. Get yersen down before November 11th and it vanishes forever (most of it into Cunning Stunts house).

You are right plankton. As an artwork it's brilliant and as such should make a load of dosh. Problem is that like most stuff that is sold on the back of raising money for charity most of the profits don't go to the charities.

This is ultimately the reason why we decided against buying one, just felt like far too little of the asking price was going back to the good cause(s).

We were in London in September and saw the installation then, and although it was only probably half-finished, it already looked pretty stunning. Shame they couldn't leave it there indefinitely, as it's definitely caught peoples' imagination and got them talking, hopefully about WWI rather than ebay.
