the radio silence from Oakwell. I'm sure they are just waiting to see how Mellon gets on before they make any decisions. However it would be nice to find out a little of what's going on. They ask you to buy into the ethos of we are all in it together etc etc, and having supported them all my life, plus buying a season ticket year on year, you'd think you deserve to know a little. Maybe not and I'm being a bit naive. I don't really know what I want them to say. Just anything I guess. We are bottom of the league and managerless. I'm just a little anxious. We seem rudderless. Just going to have to be patient and wait for the inevitable win on Saturday Mellon gets the job. We don't someone else does.
Lets just get the Yeovil game out the way. I'm sure there will be a clear statement one way or the other, after Saturday's game. For now, I personally think the Club have the right strategy, after the O'Bysmal/Butcher circus, to keep low profile and allow MM to stay focused on preparing the squad. I would expect some firm statement quickly following the Yeovil game though.
Nobody is expecting the club to come out and reveal names etc. We just want them to tell us if there is a shortlist drawn up or/and we are giving Mellon a chance to prove himself.
If we lose Saturday and Mellon isn't going to get the job then they better have someone to appoint fast, as he might as well just walk away. Plus if your the man waiting in the wings would you wait on Saturdays result to see if you get the job. Another scenario being we lose the club make a statement on Saturday saying we are going to interview for the job. What do you do if your Mellon as your as good as sacked.
i think i'm probably just putting a bit of blind faith in mansford et al. come sunday or monday, i'll probably be with you if there hasn't been a clear statement.
Yeah your right I have. Could be that we'll have another manager get the sack on Saturday and Heckingbottom in charge for leeds.
I'd like them to wait and take their time to ensure they make the correct decision, I don't want to know who has turn us down or put too much pressure on Mellon by saying he's got a set amount of games.
I have a suspicion that Mellon already has the job and that the powers that be are hoping for a win and good performance on Saturday so they can announce it with a great fanfare. If we draw or lose I would still expect Mellon to be given the job till the end of the season. Remember that Davey was given the job permanently after a woeful defeat against Wednesday. For me, I don't just want to see us win on Saturday, it's more the manner of victory that concerns me. Yes, Yeovil are on a decent run at the moment, but they are a bottom 6 side and we are at home. It's a very good yardstick to measure Mellon by, as we've just come up short in home games against bottom 6 sides in previous weeks and dropped points that we really shouldn't have. If we are to be told that someone from the same coaching set up, using the same set of players can get us out of the mess we're in we need to see three points on the board and we need to see evidence of how things are improving on the pitch. We don't have time to waste and i think the board has probably learned that this season, because it was obvious to all last season that Hill had completely given up just before Christmas and we threw points away that we could have maybe salvaged if we'd have booted Hill out sooner. This season they have taken the action by sacking Flicker, so can Mellon turn things round immediately like Flicker did last season? If we don't pick up three points at home to another bottom 6 side it leaves us having to find those three points from a much tougher fixture further down the line. Personally, I don't have a problem with Mellon getting the job, but I want to see real evidence of an improvement first. I don't want us to be relegated by Easter whilst Warnock, Wilson, Holloway, et al are golfing in Marbella. So come on Reds, you seem to want Mellon to get the job, show us he deserves it.
It's shocking. What ever they want to do they should comeout and tell us. Even clubs like Portsmouth and Bury are showing us up in communication and Ben needs to start and get a move on because it's annoying people. I hope the u18's are playing Saturday morning and I hope Bens down there because how fed up with it all i'm feeling now he'll be getting it.
Some of us think we are doing it the right way, the ones getting annoyed about it are starting to annoy us. Hope there's some of us down at u18s so we can tell the annoyed to **** off.
Maybe the feeling is mutual. Sorry for spoiling your contentment with the club. It's not like we are bottom of league and managerless. God forbid.
My point is that the club can't please everyone. Some want it doing the way it is being done, others want announcements. Nowt to do with contentment. You have noticed we have done ok since we became managerless? No need for panic. It's not been a fortnight yet.
No not at all. I really don't expect them to say anything until after the Yeovil game and until then I think we should just support MM and hope for three points.
That would actually be textbook. Drop the $hit in, while people are focusing on bigger news. I'd be impressed if they did that Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
