It's niggling me! Seems nowt but doom and gloom is resonating itself from t'Well. I hope alls well like but even as an eternal optimist I'm feeling rather dubious about anything less than a struggle. Early days granted. Fingers crossed!
I'm not hopeful as things stand but maybe a few new recruits before the start of proceedings could change my opinion. People my perceive me as being negative but at the end of the day I want success for the Reds. I hope I'm wrong but it's a season of struggle ahead I'm afraid.
In reply to ryhill and CT jointly. It might just be my overall feeling about football in general and this encompasses BFC. I can't see one positive at the moment. I sincerely hope there's a momentous upturn in the good times feeling. As for a team of youth. Yes I would love that. A team full of them, but only if the ability and longevity is there for a successful future. Not for the sake of it and/or as a 'cheap option'. We were reassured that our budget was competitive, youth would be used with experience, we wouldn't have to sell, we'd bring in 15-20 players (Bens words-yes there's a few weeks left), then it's less than 1/2 that, we're offering existing players new offers on new 'L1' offers but charging fans more in L1 than the C'ship. I'll say it again, it might just be me. But at the moment I have little or no confidence/interest at the moment. Ps - This isnt a dig againt Danny and the squad. I championed DW for the job.
Can't say I'm spectacularly hopeful. I would have hoped we would have got in 4 replacements for the 4 we offered contracts at the very least. Which would have fleshed the squad out greatly. At the minute we seem to be drifting listlessly. It's not terminal we have the nucleus of a good squad but we need to act and act quickly.
Not being funny, but we'd be feeling even worse if we'd stayed up. Players would still have left with inferior players coming in. I'm looking forward to the new season.
I see what you're saying to an extent. I just hope the trips to the so called smaller clubs still hold the same attraction when/if we don't have a successful season. I suppose that's dependant in how you'd consider a good/average/bad one.
Got to admit that is a strange one...I wonder who thought that was a good move but at least the we got a good deal on the trip to Italy
Don't worry at least Barry Taylor can use his FA freebies for the England match now the Colchester game has been stupidly moved.
Not heard any doom and gloom from Oakwell. Mansford and Wilson have given a number of interviews over the closed season and they've never been anything other than positive and optimistic. Plenty of doom and gloom on here like. If, when the transfer window shuts at the end of August, this is the squad we're going with then I'll not be very optimistic. I actually think we can put out a good team at this level, but we haven't the numbers for a whole season. However, I think we'll make more signings. Can't judge how we're going to do because I don't know what players we're going to try to do it with.
