At the end of that article: Barnsley's record transfer, meanwhile, remains the £1.5m figure they paid on two occasions, for Gorgi Hristov of Partizan Belgrade (1997) and QPR's Mike Sheron (1999). Eh? I seem to remember that the reported fee for Sheron at the time was only a million. If we paid one and a HALF million........no, surely not

Surely it's from the 30s not 1955? The paper has a line with 193 next to it, you fill in the date and year, so 12th August 1935 for instance.
Made me laugh when I saw it. Nowt ever changes. In 60 years someone at the club will discover an email we sent in 2015 stating we're prepared to receive offers for the transfer of Sam Winnall and Conor Hourihane. Would consider exchange for blackbird's egg, buttons formed from copper and zinc and cooperative stamps. Agree with Ponty72, looks like it came from the 30s not the 50s. Unless we printed a boat load in the 30s and were still using them 20 years later. Or someone printed it out this morning, because it looks pristine for summat that old. Also agree with Cunning Stunt. £1.5 million.
We still have some stock of birthday cards with Keith Hill on them so it wouldn't be surprising if we printed too many telegram sheets in the '30s and were still using them in the '50s.
