Yes a good result and performance yesterday, but I really don't get why Flitcroft has been forgiven so quickly for being half responsible for our position that we are in anyway.
I just can't see why people thinks he's the answer. This about players playing for him is tosh, they've been playing because of the uncertainty of their OWN future.
I hope I'm wrong but just can't get excited about this appointment.

Was Ritchie blamed when hart went or Davey after him? He's proved in the last 3 games he's capable with Mellon and Scott to do it his way and I hope he carries on how he's doing now! Fair play to the lad this is the most united barnsley fc has been for a long time and while we are playing for each other and flicker why change?

Onwards and upwards I say.......c'mon flicker

    I agree with you jack.
I wish him the best and will support 100%.
    1 massive result I admit.
But if you go back to Friday and look at the posts it's a completely different story.

I hope to be proved wrong and expect a torrent of abuse, but these are just my thoughts.

like it or lump it, he's the man who's taking us to the end of the season. if you don't get behind him and the team to start with, then we've got no chance at all. stop wasting your energy on moaning and use it to get behind them

I think its the best appointment we could have made. Its really unfair to write him off just because of Hill; he is his own man now and deserves a chance and the support of the fans.

Its not like he's picked up where Hill left off. We're playing an entirely different formation for a start.

I don't get why people have to apportion half the blame on flicker. Hill was manager, he was calling the shots. The immediate changes flicker had made makes me think he didn't agree with hill on how to play football. Get behind him.

Mario & Mr C, We all want the same ultimately.
I will certainly not write him off, and I hope he turns out to be our saviour, same as we all should do.
I think some people are just surprised in the change of views.

Has Mellon been confirmed as assitant or coach yet anywhere?

He wasn't my choice. But look at the facts, firstly we have 2 very public knock-backs, then we win a local derby. The board were really forced into making this decision. I wish him well and if the players continue to improve under his management then the board will have made the right decision. This will either be Simon Davey all over again or Danny Wilson. We will all have a good idea if they made the right decision in about 12 games time. And as I have said before, this board of Directors have got a terrible record in appointing managers so you do get the feeling one of their appointments is going to click. I am personally more excited about Mick Mellon's involvement. From what I hear first hand, he is an exceptional coach.

I would have preferred a clean break and an entirely new management team. But despite the board's best efforts that hasn't happened. Yesterday I saw a highly motivated team convincingly beat supposedly superior opposition. At least that gives us hope. So although I wouldn't have chosen Flicker myself I can understand why the board have now gone for him. I wish him all the best. I'll be there to support the team for the rest of the season and beyond even if we are relegated.
