Thank's love. It's good to be back as well. Shame you couldn't make it on Saturday as it was a good turn out.

Anyway, yeh it's a new one and I took the lazy option of PC World which is just up the road. As for my other one, I'm not really sure whether it's repairable or not. I'm going to be brave and take the back off tomorrow.

I kept getting the message IDE error and when I tried to use recovery discs it wasn't playing ball as it said It couldn't find the hard drive.

Hmmm

Could be as simple as a loose connection.
Or the hard disk may have died, or even the IDE controller on the mainboard may have packed in.
As long as it ain't the latter, it should be salvageable.

I'm opting for one of the latter two given the smell and grinding noise that occurred just before the death of it. It would be nice to be able to salvage it so I can flog it and recouperate a tad of what I spent on this tho'. I was going to replace it at the end of this year anyway. So it's just a few months earlier than expected.
