factory annouced that redudancies were coming, scary time (just before xmas too) anyone been through this?
Yep Got the equivalent of a years salary (after tax) and got another job paying same within 2 months so was fine for me.
How long have you been there? Mine was only worthwhile because I'd managed to get in 11 years. Largely due to being too apathetic to look for anything else, even though I was bored there for at least the last half of my employment!
No, self-employed So normally just get told that there is no more work the day before we get laid off.
Also no holiday pay, no sick pay, no company pension, got to buy all my own tools and workwear, provide my own transport etc.
Take the money mate and get yourself off on a nice holiday. RE: How long have you been there? On bare minimum, & this is going from memory, you should get about 1.5 months salary & you don't get taxed on it.
Not sure but I think minimum is 1 week pay per year of service Depends on employer, my current one is 1 month per year....Only time it happened to me I got 6mths salary tax free and 3 mths paid notice. Luckily I started a job on same money after being out of work for 6 weeks. Try looking here.... www.jobserve.co.uk www.jobsite.com www.MySouthYorkshireJobs.co.uk
3 times mate, minimum amount they give you is, 1 week for every year you worked there, 1 1/2 weeks for every year you are over 40. minimum money they can pay you is £250 per week, Law says that. If you are offered less ring ACAS. Also you have to bee paid that money while you are on Notice, even if you are on SICK. I KNOW this for a fact.Had it tried on me last year, I was on sick with knackered achillees tendon , given notice and put on SSP, 1 call to ACAS sorted it out. need any advice pm me and I will help as much as I can.
got made redundant from SR Gent this time last year. sucks to lose your job just before christmas. Real shame too it was a really good job to have.
Yes, brilliant 9 months gardening leave, big pay-off, happy days. you have to have a decent contract though or you'll get f*ck all unless you've been there since a baby.
Unfortunately not One of only 5 left from a company of 50 when I joined. Guess I was just too darn useful. They all got shed loads of cash - half a years salary or more (tax free - you don't pay tax on redundancy). I can't think of one person who didn't come out of it better off in the long run, career changes, deposits for a house, ... Except little old me!
RE: Going through the same thing.................. Our company announced job cuts 6 weeks ago, 4000 in total across the UK. Our site are losing 450 jobs. We have an announcement on Tuesday about our restructure. We know 20 jobs out of 75 are going, so anxious times.
yes, i was at naylors in cawthorne for 20 years was gutted at first got another job straight away didn't miss a day's work. much happier in new job
depending how old you are you'll get 1 week or 1 1/2 weeks salary for each complete year you've been there. The weeks salary is capped at £290 though so it'll be 290 x5. Also you'll get given whatever notice is in your contract. You should get a minimum of 5 weeks notice. They'll either make you work it or they'll pay it up front and finish you early. If they finish you early you may get this tax free. pm me.
