Im looking to book a holiday to Lanzarote in september and found one but the flight is with Air Malta, which to me is strange. Never heard of em so i wondered if anyone of you well travelled people have done so. Good or bad experiences?? Cheers
Yeah. Went to Malta last year and flew with them. Just an average flight. Set off on time, landed on time. Nothing spectacular but also nothing wrong.
Hi Doddy will this do 1954,sweeping the desert in Egypt some one said your going home yorky set off from egypt next stop MALTA from then on plain sailing fantastic ride you cant beat it flying home from malta oh i forgot there was an airplain involved go for it
Yep flown to Malta last year with them , no problems at all. Good value for money as well (Y) (Y) (Y)
never flown with them, nor have i ever been to malta (edit: or lazarote!), but you'll be pleased to know they have never had an accident - only incident of note was that one of their planes was hijacked in June 1997 by two Turks. They have a fleet of small planes, Airbus A319, A320 and 737 - having flown on all three for different airlines they are pretty much the same in terms of layout and passenger facilities
YES Awful.
Sorry, but they were.
Flew Friday evening to Malta, awful food and poor service.
On return, the same awful service and exactly the same food as they served up on the flight out, which constituted of a dried up fish burger with no choice if you were vegetarian or a non fish eater (as my hubby!).
Have travelled on some superb airlines, Emirates, Cathay Pacific, Singapore. Royal Thai etc - all superb.
The Charter fligts we have been on have all been acceptable but Air Malta was atrocious.
Having said that, it was a few years ago now, so may have changed.
I hope so, as no one would ever fly twice with them!

RE: YES you might say they were atrocious tina but you tend to get what you pay for - i've been nipping to spain quite a lot recently on easyjet and ryanair and they are literally tracky buses of the sky - my package holiday flights tend to be with thomas cook and they are somewhat better than a budget airline, i would expect air malta to be similar to thomson, thomas cook and monarch etc - so if you have flown with any of these i would expect the same, it's a competitive market these days as you have so much choice therefore you aren't gonna get a two-bit airline with a package holiday anymore.
RE: YES no sorry, Air malta cannot hold a candle to Tompson. Monarch, Thomas Cook or any of the others.
Our experience was that Air Malta was more like the 'Tuk Tuks' of the sky lol!
As I said, times have changed and I am going back a few years, the Airline will hopefully have improved and moved on. At the time they were truly dreadful.

RE: YES yeak like i say, never been on one of their flights, just looking at info for them on wikipedia and it would appear they are still using some planes that they purchased at the back-end of the 80s - maybe if these planes still have the same interior as when they were bought then it might not be the best experience....probably still smells of dodgy turkish fags!
Yes mate, 2 months ago. Went to Corfu, and surprisingly that was the airline! I also didn't know what to expect. The flight going out was delayed by about half an hour. The meal were fine. One thing I did like though was the amount of legroom. Never had as much on any plane I don't recall. Coming home was a different story. Supposed to fly on an air Malta plane, but we were delayed around 4 hours due to a technical fault on the AM plane. So anothe rplane came for us, Canarian Airlines or something. The same Air Malta crew were on-board though, and the captain was French - both ways.
Enjoy ya hol!

RE: YES And watch out for those dodgy fish burgers! Yuk!
seriously, I hope you get fixed up.
I enjoyed some parts of Malta, but it's not everyone's cup of tea,
Hubby loved the buses and by the end of the week my lungs were full of deisel from sitting on them getting from place to place.
Every bus takes you back to Valletta and then you go from Valletta to where you want to go on the Island.
I liked looking around the Churches, but when we went it was very windy and difficult to get anywhere near the 1 beach.

There ya go Times move on, as I said, it was a fair few years ago.
Airlines have to be much more competitive these days or they go out of business.
Have a good flight and enjoy your hols.

Casper would'nt fly with them - he filmed this over Valetta Harbour ...... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z2tEaKHCZTU
