I had an hernia repair yesterday and have been in constant pain since couldn't sleep at all last night so i have'nt slept properly for about 30 hours just wondering how long it's going to last.
I had one a couple of years ago.Uncomfortable for a couple of days but managed some sleep.I was out for a steady walk on the 4th day and gradually improved. Didn,t they give you a telephone No.for advice?DON,T LET YOURSELF GET CONSTIPATED.Oh and I had some very strong painkillers for about 10 days.
Had one in November, inguinal hernia (groin). Uncomfortable, though not excruciating, pain for a couple of days. Slept ok first night, though I was a bit groggy from the anaesthetic (did you have keyhole?). Eat plenty of fruit/ bran, avoid constipation which for me was worse than the op! Started driving after 10 days and virtually recovered after 14. However, a sympathetic doctor managed to stretch my sick note to 4 weeks....which was nice!
mine was inguinal but not keyhole and the surgeon had a struggle with it i heard the theatre nurse tell the nurse in recovery that he'd earned his money with it and i'm feeling a bit bruised. Was supposed to get a visit from the district nurse two days after but she didn't want to come with it being sunday they phoned me up and asked me if i really neede a visit made me feel guilty and i said i could manage phoned back this morning and told them i needed a visit but only got a message service and have had no reply
