bit off topic, but a serious post i bought a vacuum cleaner from Argos, and had to use it to see if it was suitable. Turns out it isn't. Juat too heavy for wife to carry upstairs and too much bending (back injury). So, just wondered if its still ok to take it back, or whether Argos will be arsey cos its been used. I can obviously clean it, but may struggle to get all the filters totally clean. Can they refuse to take it back TIA
on the same subject my orange cymbal on my guitar hero drumkit stopped working.tried hitting it even harder but its knackered. will i have to take the entire pack back or will they just give me a new drum kit?
Tough one that ... ... we have taken things back to Argos after the 30 day limit and before the 1 year guarantee ran out but only because goods were faulty - only last week the wife took back our daughters school rucksack after a zip broke (without the receipt)and there have been a couple of irons over the past few years too that stopped working.
Argos replaced all of above with no fuss but I suspect you may be out of luck returning it on the 'changing your mind' scenario. You could say it is broken (they won't check it in store) but they will just replace it, not give you the cash back.

i took a pressure washer back after 9 months and told them it was **** (which it was) and they just refunded me no problem.
I might be being stupid here but when you bought it and it was in its box I assume it felt heavy, when you unboxed it it felt heavy so why did you need to turn it on to discover that it was heavy? I think you'll struggle to prove that it was 'unsuitable' because you ignored its weight when you bought it. You'll have to rely on argos being generous and accepting it back anyway
You are pushing your luck Just had a look at their refunds policy http://www.argos.co.uk/static/StaticDisplay/includeName/ReturnsAndRefunds.htm Key words highlighted from first point so just return them to us unused, in their original undamaged packaging, in a saleable condition, They can hardly resel a used vacuum cleaner as new so dont think they have any obligation to refund. As Supertkye says -couldnt you tell it was too heavy without actually using it
Put it in the garden, wrap the intake with plastic so it can't suck air, and turn it on and run it till the motor conks out. At worst you will get a brand new hoover you can flog on ebay.
