One of the presenters certainly appears to passionately believe aliens have visited our planet in the past. <img src ="http://www.myremoteradio.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/giorgio_blur.jpg"> My favourite line of his is "I'm not saying it was aliens. But it was aliens". I wonder if he posts on the BBS under a pseudonym?
Kev , he must have visited Dodworth then ! Cos some of them buggers in the Working Mens Club are definitely strange ones !
My personal view is that "we" are the aliens, there are some serious gaps in so-called human evolution that scientists have just guessed to fit the scenario. If we evolved from a less intelligent species and wiped it out, that happened far too quickly for me. You might say the difference between us and primates is minimal when examining DNA, but given that the laws of physics are the same across the entire universe then it isn't inconceivable that we came from another earth-like planet. Dumped here by a big space ship, an advanced civilization was created but a global catastrophy happened leaving only a small percentage of humans alive with no means of communication/collaboration and it took a good few years, once the population had recovered, to get it going again. That's my theory anyway - I'm not convinced we pulled ourselves out of the ocean and grew legs simply because they were the most effective means of getting around on land.
I think you need to do some more reading up on evolution. The "gaps" argument doesn't wash, creationists have been trying it on for years, though in their case it's "I can't explain it, therefore god." There are far more gaps in this, or the aliens, arguments. Talkorigins.org is a good place to start.
Re: He IS an Alien He certainly has an impressive hairstyle. I don't agree with a word he says, but I like him.
So in summary: evolution isn't plausible, but humanity arriving on a big space taxi and establishing an advanced civilisation which got wiped out leaving no trace of evidence behind is plausible?
So are you saying that the alien race that dropped us off here somehow devolved us from the level they were at in order for us to evolve again back to their level? Assuming we trace ourselves back to your first 'gap' I assume we would still be looking at our earliest cave dwelling ancestors, so unless the aliens had the ability to 'devolve' themselves or they had access to earlier generations of themselves, then isn't your argument itself full of 'gaps'.
just trying to be polite ... but I think we both know what I meant ... holes .... his argument has holes in it
