The last time I weighed any scrap in was during the Miner's strike. The guy just paid us a flat rate for 'mixed scrap'saved us sorting it all out though.
Back then they always had the teletext page on showing the latest prices.Suppose there's an App for it now.

That will be mild steel re-bar, not stainless, as stainless should not rust.

Where do you live ? I ask this as Bulk metals up in Springvale , Penistone were giving the best prices last week.

Stainless - you can get between 65-80p a kg

    Mild steel - approx 15p a kg

There is a p[lace in Rotherham , near canal that gives good prices too.

Take some id with you and some address proof

Stainless shouldnt rust mate. If its rusting, itll not be copper or brass either. Steel that rusts has iron in it, which makes it a ferrous metal, which is fetching around £130 per tonne, depending on quality

So is it worth saving all my beer cans, flattening them and filling up one of the 17 bins I've got from the council - then taking it up to the scap yard every four weeks when the bin is full and weighing them in?
