I'm off on hols in a few weeks to Jordan flying to Amman and then staying in Petra for a few days before travelling on to Aqaba. Has anyone flown to Jordan? I'm struggling to make contact with the hotels to arrange transfers from the airport and wonder if anyone has experience of any trusted transfer/taxi companies there. Any help much appreciated
I have been in Jordan before but unfortunately I was asleep at the time and can't remember how I got there.
Petra I'm quite envious, mate. It's a dream site for an archaeologist. Hope you have a great time. I can't offer any help with regards to your problems, though, sorry. <img src ="http://www.onthegotours.com/repository/XmasinPetraItinerary1GroupTourJordan-54331245168362_800_600.jpg">
I haven't, but have you tried one of these. You can get quotes and have it all sorted before you arrive. http://www.holidaytransfers.com/ http://www.a2btransfers.com/ http://www.transfers4u.com/
Re: Petra Cheers mister Wanted to go for years and finally twisted gf's arm to go when she realised it was 35-40 degrees! Seem to have a plan for Aqaba to Amman for the homeward leg (seems flying is half the price of a taxi!) but no further with the Airport to Petra bit. Tripadvisor seems to suggest there is a 24hr taxi rank at the airport with fixed fees but always better to have that confirmed by someone who has actually experienced it. Oh well, sure we'll fathom it
Thanks for that Jay Just tried those (think we may have used one of those for Tunisia a few years ago) and two didn't list a service and the other came out at an eye watering price sadly. Hmmm
Re: Petra I'll do my best to do it justice for you ;-) All being well I'm hoping to visit northern Sweden in December and visit the IceHotel and fingers crossed see the Northern Lights (supposedly at an 11yr high in solar activity according to NASA)... which has been an ambition for more years than I can recall.
Re: Petra I have every confidence in you, mate. Having the opportunity to witness the Aurora Borealis will be a wonderful way to end off the year, even though there's bound to be a bit of a nip in the air!
Re: Petra I've been to Petra and Aqaba but I went for the day from Taba Heights in Egypt on a boat playing cat and mouse with an Israeli gun ship. Petra really is a Wonder of the World and it really needs a couple of days to explore the whole site, the walk down to the burial chambers through the narrow canyon is spectacular. Only spent a few hours in Aqaba but its a lively place particularly round the market. You'll have a great time.
