from the early-mid 70's, before i could get to barnsley by myself me and a mate used to get the supporters coach from the next village to B/pool, in them days they were in the old divs 1 and 2, and we were in the 4th

How many fans did they used to get in those days?

Before I was old enough to attend matches I used to collect footy cards. I remember Blackpool players appearing quite regularly on them. Mick Walsh is one that springs to mind.

First time I went we stood on the open away end for a cup match. The ground couldnt have changed much since Stan Matthews played there in his heyday.

Cant remember the crowd numbers, it was always fairly full

and was of course mainly standing, the kop was bigger than the ponty, in the old days both sets of fans were standing side by side with just 1 row of coppers in between, i was at the bolton game in the mid 70's when a Pool fan got stabbed to death by a Bolton fan, first murder at an English game, not a pleasant day
