    I think most PCs/laptops come with 'Wordpad' - basically a stripped down version of Word. That might be enough for now?

    just looked through my programmes and i already have this on my laptop!

    just updating it, would you advise deleting microsoft word

    If open office can open all your old word documents the you may as well remove word mate.
