I concur with the year (approx) as I remember paying 1s and 9d when I was drinking Tetleys in 1970. This would convert to 9p
Barnsley Bitter was 1/10d (roughly 9p) for a pint in 1967. When I was at university in London at the end of the 60s, I could get a pint for 2/3d (roughly 11p) in the East End and for 3/- (15p) in the West End.
Those prices are for half a pint. So in effect, 20p for a pint of Skol. That would put it a few years later. Although inflation was pretty fruity in the 70s, so not much later. About 74/75 at a guess.
Had a quick look on a few "How much was" sites and both had average pint prices at 12/13p in 1972 and 13p to 16p in 1973..WMC were also cheaper than pubs. As we were underage we only used pubs away from the spotlight so again probably less..
Aww I love looking at things like this, when we used to do a half-pence coin lol. What on earth was Skol speccy, how strong was it, about 3%.
I like it when Bodie & Doyle of The Professionals, go to the pub and get a few drinks, and still get change from a pound note.
My first pint I bought in a pub was in 1988. Royal Oak Wombwell. Think it was 95p. The outrage later that year when it went over £1 a pint.
Yeah that's when I first bought a beer, in Aug-Sep '89, when I turned 18. And it was 99p or £1, depending on what you ordered.
