I tested positive for Covid for the first time yesterday and I'm in the extremely clinically vulnerable group due to having immuno supression theraphy for my vascalitis (and kidney disease caused by the vasculitis). Have been offered some anti-viral therapies. Wondered if anyone else had them and what their experience was.
In the same boat but for different medical reasons. Whilst I had the offer, I declined because I felt in the most part ok. Had I felt at death's door, I probably would have tried it. Not helpful, I know. But I'd say make the decision on how you feel
I'd say take them. My wife didn't get them in time, though thankfully she survived, just. She's spoken with other people in her networks who have had them and they did complain about really bad headaches. But whether that was the drugs or the virus, I couldn't say. Hope you're ok and you don't suffer too much. Edit: Worth saying that she was openly discussing the antivirals the night before they were due to be delivered and she was feeling quite guilty for asking for them. She looked fine, said she felt fairly well. Within 12 hours of that discussion she was being rushed to hospital unconscious and looking like she wasn't going to make it. Choose wisely.
Thanks. I felt a bit better this morning but it's got worse as the day has gone on. Heading back to bed
Joe Biden. He didn't take them for long enough and some virus survived, hence why he's tested +ve after previously testing -ve. Don't be tempted to stop treatment just because you feel fine and get a -ve test.
I think that this is good advice. I've had covid twice & the second time I thought I'd beaten it, but ended up with chronic bronchitis for two months. It was winter time. I contracted it at the Sheffield Utd game, as did my brother & nephew who I was with at the game. It wasn't nice. Coughing up night & day.
Yeah makes sense and the Pharmacist who phoned me earlier said similar. Have some Molnupiravir coming in the morning.
Gally, does it matter? Take the pills. They might make you feel a bit a crap mate. They probably won't, but if you take them you will feel crap because you've got Covid. And the way the human psyche works is that you'll end up saying you took these pills and they made you feel crap, when in actual fact the virus made you feel crap. The anti-virals will not kill you. They just will not. You're in the very unfortunate position that the virus might. The pills will help fight the virus. So you take the pills. The decision is that easy. It really is. And I'll buy you a beer in a couple of months.
Thanks for this. I recently had Covid and have developed a worse cough now than when I had it. Will try and fix up a doc's appointment to get some antibiotics. Was just going to do the usual 'give it a couple of weeks and see how it goes' prior to reading about your experience.
