purporting to come from the Halifax saying your account has been suspended? I haven't opened the email attachment. The "properties" of the email say it is from "queries@littlewoods.com" Very suspicious.
Re: Anyone having problem accessing Halifax bank account? Plus a dodgy looking email I'd be very wary of having an online Halifax account. http://www.theguardian.com/money/2014/may/30/halifax-lloyds-banking-online-security-hacker
Re: Anyone having problem accessing Halifax bank account? Plus a dodgy looking email Same with my Lloyds Bank account
Re: Anyone having problem accessing Halifax bank account? Plus a dodgy looking email Never click on emails from the bank, saying it's requiring you to log in, as a change of details etc. Your bank won't ask you to do this. If you are unsure, delete the email, and go directly to the website itself.
Re: Anyone having problem accessing Halifax bank account? Plus a dodgy looking email I rang the Halifax and just as I got through my account details came back up as normal so that problem sorted. I told the girl who answered about the email and she said that they (banks) never ask you to open attachments in their emails, the message is in the body of the email itself, or they ask you to ring the HQ. I'd deleted it anyway.... I am always very suspicious. I tend to do a "properties" check before opening anything dodgy looking.
Re: Anyone having problem accessing Halifax bank account? Plus a dodgy looking email Its an obvious scam. After working in IT/Server support for nearly 20 years, I can safely say that the only way I will have online banking is when it is forced on me. And that would probably cause me to move to a different bank. I know that systems are never going to be 100% secure and banks are big targets. If you don't have internet banking, you can't be hacked
Re: Anyone having problem accessing Halifax bank account? Plus a dodgy looking email I get about 5 of those type of emails per week on average. NEVER open ANY attachment on an email, or link in an email, unless you are 150% sure you know what it is, even if you think you know the sender. Their email account may have been hacked and they may have a virus sending out emails to people in their contact list.
