yep, he's the guy. My brother says he is a down & out alcoholic nowadays.

My brother works in the Abbey Snooker club in Sheffield & he came in today. My brother says that he was drunk & bothering the customers so he had to turf him out, 30 seconds later he got run over. My bro says that it wasn't too bad, only that 2 ambulances came to the incident.

I dont understand how people can get that way

I have heard it said that alcoholism is a disease and the person cant help being a drunk, I find it strange that it is one of the few diseases that can be totally irradicated . Not got a lot of sympathy with Drunks or Druggies, totally brought on by themselves.

    I know Dean quite well

He has had a drink problem for a lot of years. He admitted in the late eighties /early nineties that he had a drink problem and was charged by World Snooker Assoc. of bringing the game into disrepute. I also refereed him in Telford in the nineties after he had been convicted of something (can't remember what) but he had to wear a tag and the place was crawling with press cameramen to see if they could get a photo of him playing with the tag on his leg. I thought it was good of World Snooker to charge him with bringing the game into disrepute and then allow the press in to try a catch a glimpse of the tag, DOUBLE STANDARDS!! needless to say they didn't. Any way I hope he is ok and gets the help he needs, he's quite a nice guy when he's sober.

I have no sympathy for druggies or alcoholics, why is that tosh.
Drinking too much can be stopped by yourself, same as taking drugs, why is that tosh?

    Why?

What the hell has me being addicted to something got to do with what I said?
I smoked, I gave up, it was MY choice. No-one but themselves can stop you being addicted, there is help available but its down to the person themselves to want to stop. These are ADDICTIONS not DISEASES.

    RE: Why?

What's addiction got to do with people being addicted and not being able to gain your 'respect'?

    Clearly nothing.

    As you were.

Having known and lived with alcoholics, on more than one occasion, I can state quite definitively that you are talking out of your posterior.

Is it a disease or an addiction?

It is an addiction, therefore they are the ones that can get rid of it, no-one else.

In case you misunderstood me, I HAVE GOT NO TIME FOR DRUGGIES AND ALCOHOLICS THEY HAVE BROUGHT THE ADDICTIONS ON THEMSELVES.
I am not aware of any laws that say I have to ask your permission to have an opinion on things. If I am wrong and there is such a law, I am sorry, but as there is not (kissmyass)
