Get yourselves into The Gatehouse (used to be Devonshire)

Was in Friday with ar lass and last night with my mate.

Last night we managed to try all the beers - had the last couple of pints of Wentworth Bumble Beer and it was like vinegar (I'd had a pint the night before and it was fine), caught the landlord as he was coming back from changing that barrel over and he changed it no problem (which is what they should do but I've also had problems before) and was very apologetic, obvously got the dregs of the barrel.
At closing time he brought us a free pint cause somebody was trying to pay for 1 pint with a credit card (stolen no doubt)

Top notch ales, mostly local breweries.

Oops! Sorry Steve, I remembered earlier today that I was going to check it out. Think theres a step up to go in, and they don't appear to have altered the doorway and its a single door.

I'll try to remember next time I go.

Shame if not as otherwise it's a cracking pub.

    Sounds brilliant

If being into Real Ale means that you end up drinking in a place that serves Sarsons in pint glasses i'll give it a miss.

Stick to the Stella, ta very much

You missed the point - any beer can turn at the bottom of the barrel, I had a pint of the same beer the night before and it was fine, as you'll see that was rectified.

But stick to your chemicals if you like

I'll have to give it a try

It's about time Barnsley got a decent pub selling real ale, because the vast majority of the others are *****.

If you're ever in Worksop, try the Mallard on the railway station, great pub.

    Will do

That the one your lass runs?

Though I'm wondering why I'd ever find myself in Worksop!

    Good point

It's probably worthwhile avoiding Worksop at all costs but at least with the mallard you never have to leave the station!

There's a beer festival at the pub at end of October and in a couple of weeks it's the North Notts beer festival at Worksop Town hall. You could combine the two.
