Or how much it would cost to build something similar to in the corner between East and Ponty but at the other end between East and North?
What's the point, cannot fill what we've got. We need investment in facilities Ponty end and score board
Out of interest. The clamour for this Ponty bar...do people just mean a bar for people using the Ponty end. Or one just in the stand for everyone to use?
For something like that with everything else that's involved - planning permission and architects etc - you wouldn't get much change out of a million pounds. Not sure why it would be needed but after being at MK's ground yesterday and spending a bit of time there after the game we are definitely missing a trick when it comes to non-executive hospitality. For starters we need a proper bar, not a members bar, one that anyone can walk into before and after the match. And one that is decorated and done out like you'd expect a regular new bar to be but with a few subtle references to the club dotted around the place - not some old room with breeze blocks painted white and a hole in the wall as a bar. Looking further ahead, what's the deal with hotel's being built into football grounds? If this is profitable, maybe the club should look to partnering with one of the big chains and build it into a new west stand, I'd imagine in this arrangement the hotel firm would cover a large amount of the cost of the structure - although granted that part of town probably isn't the most ideal location for a hotel.
People have been asking for a bar in the stand for the Ponty Enders like there is in the East and North stands. Don says they're applying for permission for this now as there are very little costs involved. In the more long term future people have also asked for a proper bar building or opening somewhere for use by anyone. so basically people want both.
Not having a public bar is crackers. Happy to let people spend all their money in town, then rock up at 2.55. Madness
I was thinking it would be a good place to fill in the corner with a stand incorporating executive boxes on the front and a proper supporters bar on the back, especially if they're planning on building a carpark round that end of the ground. It would be the safest place to build one with regards trouble because away fans can't get to that area of the ground without having to walk all the way round the west, ponty and east stands. If I was building something it'd be multi purpose. Identical to look at from the front as the existing corner stand except with a scoreboard built onto the upper section of it (I once posted a picture on here showing the general idea), inside the stand the bottom section would have a a proper supporters bar in it and the upper section behind the scoreboard would have a creche and child friendly area which would be able to be accessed via the family stand which is at the side of it. As for an hotel, the ideal place would be to buy the old grove street school and do something with that.
Prefer West Stand to be developed first to be honest. Blackpool have a very nice stand/ hotel like complex but have one of the worst stands I've been in. Wouldn't fancy that corner filled in by the away fans - not with 6,000 Leeds fans in there. We do need a non members bar and a bar in the ponty though. Only have to look at the ones at Carlisle to see the revenue they could produce - proper pubs with screens in . Watch the Sky game before kick off and have a few beers and maybe a bit of pub grub
