Anyone know anything about mobile phones

I've got a Nokia phone with vodafona and since Friday night I've had no reception except one bar for really brief periods. I assume this is likely to be a problem with the antenna and if so is it easily fixed and how much will it cost, and how long will it take to repair? I live in York and know of a couple of repair places

Also, I thought i would use my old phone in the meantime, a Samsung D900 which was with Orange but it is asking for the Network pass - I assume i can't get this without spending more money?
