Anyone know if it's possible to download a free (or cheap) version of Photoshop?

    try the GIMP

    Totally free and can do most of the stuff that Photoshop can, unless you're wanting to do some of the really advanced techniques that PS.

    The only "free" copy of PS you'll get is a dodgy one.

    Is this GIMP thing any good? I'm always weary of this 'GNU' software...

    ...fair enough it's free, but is it a true alternative to Photoshop or is it more of an alternative to MS Paint?

    i only use it for resizing Animated GIF images and its been good enough to me, its nearer photoshop than paint from what iv seen of it
