Obviously flickers will need to be tied up 1st! But surely te players need to know asap or other clubs will be sniffing around
cant players in last year of contracts start talking to other clubs from january or is that just under a certain age, if so i would imagine some have already had contact from other clubs anyway, another week aint going to make much difference
when flickers was asked about player contracts, did he say it could be too late, or have i imagined that
He did suggest some may have already been tapped up. Bobby hopes to have his sorted this week. Luke has been unusually quiet since Saturday.
I was really disappointed to hear Rowing say out of contract players (after the blood they've sweated for the cause) will receive a letter in "the next few weeks". Please.... arrange some media training!!!! And yes, players (over 21?) with 6 months left on their deal can speak with any club freely from January. So I'd be very surprised if several of our players agents hadn't been keeping busy.
If he's said that then it's a prime example of the change in attitude Flitcroft's alluding to. This isn't an office job, they aren't 'just' paid employees. I ******* despair.
He speaks about sending letters out in this: http://audioboo.fm/boos/1370870-bar...g-speaks-after-securing-championship-survival
It's the administrative view isn't it? Technically, it's right, we have 2-3 weeks from close of the season to send letters informing players if they are retained or not. But it shouldn't be about the admin process. They are players. People. Assets. Players who have just bust a monumental gut to keep us in the division and save millions of pounds. And the message we (and they) hear, is that they'll receive a letter in due course. What's the point having Winston Churchillesque tub thumping, chest pounding, hair raising, goosebumps soundbites of inspiration to fans and players alike... when the next club comment we hear is weak, insipid and demotivating?
I might be being unfair to him but I get the sense of complacency that as long as we adhere to policy and procedure then it'll all sort itself out. No regard to the efforts put in, external factors like we've left ourselves wide open to approaches from other clubs for Crainie (eg) , just an assumption that we operate in a vacuum and everybody should just be thankful that BFC is there. I'll take it as a sign if Flitcroft commits we will see a change. If he doesn't then I might find summat else to do of a weekend.
exactly that , Don Rowing seems to be an excellent football administrator, he knows exactly what to do at exactly the right time because the big book of regulations tells him , so he follows that to the letter..... however......... pull your f'king fingers out Barnsley.... lets see some dynamism and enthusiasm for a change, lets actually look like we want to be a championship club both in terms of out primary assets and our infrastructure.
I would imagine the players already know if they have a contract (offer) or not for next season. They might not like the terms (so can pursue other offers), but the letters are a formality. A bit like getting the letter to confirm redundancy after you've been shown the door and told not to darken it again.
