Sorry if already been posted, but just been listening to it on way home from work.... Basically 3 day hearing because Leeds reckon they have a CAST IRON case that the 15 point deduction was unlawful. The report said that the case Leeds are presenting has been assesed by independant legal expertx, all of whom think that they have a good chance of overturning the decision. Decision on Fri, which if it goes Leeds' way, will mean Swansea will have to try to clinch promotion again. What a mess.
Makes a mockery of the whole season if they get given the points back imho - everyone knows what they have to do from the start of the season, and then all of a sudden with 3 games left one of the contenders get given another 15 points. Totally farcical if you ask me.
Leeds will get back enough points to finish 3rd I reckon. That way nobody is too upset. Their cast iron case unfortunately falls down on the fact they signed a legal document accepting the points deduction in return for their share.
It could only happen to Leeds United. Nobody else would get a foot in the door, but those dirty Barstewards always cheating.
Best idea yet I'm sure the creditors of the previous administration are seething.... especially as Bates bought the club back so easily. It stinks. I hope the FL do the right thing - even if it meabs Donny going up.
pardon my ignorance but -10 for administration then 5 more for cheeky ******* way they did it when Ipswich scored. Surely no more than 5 points can be clawed back?
thats what they will get back 5 points... if the authorities had any balls they would tell bates to get fecked and do one........
They got 10 deducted at end of the season. Because they had still not complied with the rules they got a second deduction of 15 points, from what I heard Leeds feel it should only be 10 as that is the usual deduction - but it's a second offence so should be more. If they do get any back I can't see it being more than 5. Also, this has to be resolved before Swansea play again, you can't have a situation of them going into a game thinking they are already promoted and then afterwards they find they aren't.
RE: To be fair Are they in the right legally or in your opinion? In what way are they in the right? They didn't settle football debts which every club coming out of admin should do, they shouldn't even have been allowed to start this season but the league bottled it, a 15 point deduction is the least they should have got.
i don't know where the 15 points deduction comes from, ie whats the basis - wheres the precedent, wheres the law? I agree, they shouldn't have been allowed to start the season - but it seems to me the 15 points deduction has been arbitrarily made as punishment for Bates attempting to flout the rules. The FL have got a big dilemma on their hands now re: the Bournemouth situation.
im not saying they should get the points back morally - but I don't see on what legal basis the FL have made their decision and that's what matters.
To be even fairer Thats worse than LiverpoolRed and his bleeding scum scalf.
As if they are in the right! A) They agreed to the decision in the first place
B) Its illegal to sue the Football Governing body to which you belong, so even taking this to court should relegate em again
C) They tried to scam the whole of football by going into admin and talking their 10 points after they'd already been relegated.
D) They're scum, run by a crook, and always get away with murder. Look at this £2k fine for fielding too many loan players- whats the point of rules then? They knew what they were doing.

RE: To be fair At the meeting of League Chairmen to decide Leeds' fate, there was only one question: Should Leeds be deducted 15 points - Yes or No. The Football Supporters Federation held a meeting soon after the decision was made, the Leeds rep got up and said "Thanks" to the 20 clubs out of 72 that had supported Leeds by saying "No" to the 15 point deduction. It was then made clear to him that, out of the 20 who voted "No", 12 clubs had wanted it to be more than the 15 points because of the way Leeds (and Cuddly Ken in particular) had tried to manipulate the system
Surely the legal basis is that it is the Football League's competition, Leeds broke the rules of the competition and the FL can impose whatever punishment they, and the member clubs, see fit. The precedent is for a 10 point deduction, but I believe that they do have the rights, for further breaches, to impose stricter punishment. http://www.yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk/leedsunited/United-caught-in-battle-between.3706070.jp They didn't have a CVA in place which was why a further penalty was imposed, and it seems that Leeds main gripe is over having to settle football debts, which every other club that has come out of admin has had to do - the reasoning for that being otherwise you put other clubs at risk.
