Not far off the bottom of the Fourth Division only five years after winning the FA Cup. If ever there was a tale of shocking mismanagement of a football club this is the prime one. I have nothing against Portsmouth people or their supporters but I really hope this club goes to the wall. It's what football needs - a proper wake up call. Oh, and they sacked their manager yesterday. "Pompey legend" Guy Whittingham gone - bit like Barnsley having Neil Redfearn as manager and sacking him. No sentiment there!
That's the reason that John Dennis gave for never giving Eric the Reds job - he would hate to have been in the situation whereby he may have to sack him. Unlike you though I have no love for Pompey or their fans. The club is getting what it deserved and every time I've been to Fratton Park I have been glad to get home in one piece (although usually wet through and having seen us let 3 or 4 goals in!).
To be honest I've been avoiding league table viewings for obvious reasons. Didn't realise tbh But as much as I hate to say it, if it did happen I don't think it would make a slight bit off difference!!! Feel sorry for the fans like but seriously, just a number !!!!!
Where did I say I love Pompey? I said I had nothing against the people of Pompey. I would be very happy if their club went out of business though. Big time charlies spending money they don't have, while cheating local businesses. I hope their fall is a salutary lesson to other clubs, but somehow I don't think it will be. For all we moan about things at Oakwell I would rather have a struggling club than no club at all
