If you've got a fire mate you'd be better off phoning 999

I need some information on joining up and entry level requirements.

    Specifically, eye sight requirements.

    A little...

My eyesight is -5.50 in one eye and -6.00 in the other. I can't really interpret what those numbers (i.e. 6/24 etc..) mean? Any ideas?

    Cheers.

    Fire

kills in minutes, but smoke kills in seconds.

That and never play with matches.

Oh and go on strike for a 15% pay rise every 2 years :D

Seriously though I think you need to be able to reach level 11 on a bleep test, I know the fitness standards are very high.

    This might help

    Visual acuity scales

    Foot***Metre*** Decimal ***LogMAR

    20/200** 6/60****** 0.10 ******1.00
    20/160** 6/48 ******0.13 ******0.90
    20/120** 6/36 ******0.17****** 0.78
    20/100** 6/30 ******0.20****** 0.70
    20/80*** 6/24 ******0.25****** 0.60
    20/60*** 6/18 ******0.33****** 0.48
    20/50*** 6/15 ******0.40****** 0.40
    20/40*** 6/12****** 0.50****** 0.30
    20/30*** 6/9 *******0.63****** 0.18
    20/25*** 6/7.5***** 0.80****** 0.10
    20/20*** 6/6******* 1.00****** 0.00
    20/16*** 6/4.8***** 1.25****** -0.10
    20/12*** 6/3.6***** 1.67****** -0.22
    20/10*** 6/3 *******2.00****** -0.30

I think the third column is your measurements and the second column is the fire services. The end column (Log Mar) is rarely used clinically so I doubt you have been measured on that scale.
