Was it Portsmouth? One where we played with snow on pitch - it was televised because other games in the region had been postponed

It was Wednesday fans whose game had been called off at Leeds. I thought it was against wolves but not 100%

It was 82/83 v Wolves. About 40 Wednesday turned up and had a go at the No.7.
Police then escorted them to the ground for some bonkers reason and they were put in the top corner of the Paddock.

    Not to my recollection.
Seem to recall Derby's lads calling off on their way home from Hull mid 80's, about 60 handed. Walked into The Shambles and they were packed into the upper seni circle.
Sunderland turned up 78/79 after a match at Sheff U. That was interesting! 14 arrests relating to disorder that night.

I remember we played Stockport County in the season before we got promoted from the old 4th division. Wednesday’s game had been called off and 2 or coaches of them came to our game. They initially went in the Ponty end about Half hour before KO when there was hardly anybody in the ground. I remember them being chased through the old Brewery stand and even across the pitch into the old spion Kop when the game kicked off. Unfortunately they witnessed us suffer a rare defeat that day.

i seem to remember leeds and/or wendy fans in the ground for some reason, guessing 83 84ish when our fans started to disappear

Heard a rumour that a coachload of Sunderland called off at the Ring O' Bells on a Tues/Weds night on their way home from Coventry. 80/81 ish?
But I've been racking mi brains regarding 'extra' fans at the 'well and i certainly can't recall any others.

I remember us playing Carlisle away in the 80s when some Rangers fans turned up and came in our end. Their game had been postponed.

That's the one I remember. Pitch was covered in snow and the lines had been swept. Played with an orange ball I think.

Wasn't the 4-4 year after in the snow too? Les Bradd hat trick and a shell shock end to the day as we were 4-1 up?

We lost 1-0 and Mike Summerbee got pelted with snowballs from Barnsley fans every time he took a corner!

It was 2-1. They went 1 up banger equalised and Parker winner. I’m no statto I watched the highlights yesterday on you tube. Couple of very scruffy goals.

Every now and again when I couldn’t get to Barnsley matches I’d go watch York City with their Harrogate Supporters Club branch. One particular day they were playing away somewhere in Lancashire and the game was postponed around lunchtime.

I managed to persuade a minibus full of them to head over to Bury to watch the Reds for what I thought at the time was a fantastic idea. It turned out to be one of the dullest 0-0 bore draws I’ve ever seen and they took the p!ss out of how bad we were all the way home and many a time after. I never asked any of them to join me at a Barnsley match ever again.
