Think it was a cup game v Mansfield.

It had peed down all day, and seemed to get worse through the first half. Second half started and when a person dived into the tackle, it was like they were diving into Race Street Baths!

Referee abandoned the game after 60 mins, which I think was just enough so we couldn't claim our money back.

    Any ideas?

I can picture the game as if it was yesterday. Only thing I can't remember is who it was against! (doh)

My recollection is that there was just the one bloke

I'm pretty sure about that, but it was a hell of a long time ago, so I could easily be wrong. There'll be loads that are certain they saw Graham Roberts injure Gwyn Thomas along in a minute to tell me I'm wrong.

    1982/83 season

We were drawing 1-1 with Cambridge United in the League Cup when the referee abandoned the game due to torrential rain. We eventually won through to the next round, where we won 3-1 against Sheffield United at Brammall Lane (after being 1-0 down at half time). We were beaten in the 4th Round 1-0 by Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough, after playing them off the park and the referee decided to play on after we'd scored a perfectly good equaliser!!
As a footnote, we were knocked out of the FA Cup in the 4th round by................................................Cambridge United.

I remember him going down with a fake injury and the pitch being showered from the sidelines with trainers for the players to change into.

Many thanks to all the replies

I remembered the team colours were yellow shirts/black shorts which would fit Cambridge.
