    Remember that, a few Boro fans in Ponty end giving it large. They were Chased onto the pitch and literally got kicked in

    Yes I remember that. The Chronicle ran with a picture the following Friday asking people to identify the Barnsley fans fighting the Boro fans on the pitch.

    I remember very well...me and a lad who's now dead ( RIP pal) had chased 3 Boro fans from Courthouse to Townend Roundabout ( as is now). 1 of them pulled out a cut throat razor.

    " Thas won" my mate shouted and we walked off haha

    Police dog had a mouthful of one boro fans jeans.

    I don’t think they got much of a hiding tbh, because they scarpered pretty quickly when our lot sussed and mobbed them.

    I reckon it was 83, and there was still some Ill feeling from when we’d played them in the cup at Ayresome - graveyard ambush etc

    Well there was 2 of them laid on the pitch getting kicked several times. The Boro keeper went to help stop it

    You may be right mate, I couldn’t be that certain. I’d narrow it down to be between 83 and 85.

    Remember a Sunderland fan in the Ponty once - jumped up when they scored. Stewards escorted through the concourse at half time when it was packed - one of our fans walked up to him and knocked him clean out! Was like the Jack Ruby / Oswald meeting

    Yeah, that was bad. Risky to celebrate in the wrong end, but I felt a bit for him. They were coming from all over to have a go at him.

    Funny one about being in the wrong end. Couple of my visually impaired mates John and Martin were in the disabled bit at Scunny. We had just come back from 2 down and all our end was singing, and I looked across to see those two and a few others clapping and singing amongst the home fans, :D
