Did...

...it involve a group of drunks constantly standing up in front of a guy with a walking stick so he missed a lot of the first half? Then getting mouthy when asked to sit down?

if that is the case then you wonder why the numbers are dwindling at oakwell, this happennned to me at Chelsea match i had a fella sat at side of me absolutely hammerred up, down arms all over swaying i nearly got drunk on his breath. I told him god knows how many times to stop swearing, lckily he did and he dint turn nasty but is that really what football has come to?

Well, it was my Dad, first game he's made all season, pretty much entirely down to health (and even then Sunday nearly killed him!) but these people were standing up for no reason at all, but it affected everyone around us. Unfortunately I was the only one who said anything, then got plenty of abuse in the process.

RE: Exactly same thing happened to me in Block 528

Druken idiots, wouldnt sit down, then got lots of verbal and aggression for asking them. then got lots of sarcastic comments throughout the match, about being a part timer. ive had a season ticket for 12 years.

Had a child with us and he was very nearly crying and he was very scared. luckily the bobbies split them up.

even if you are a part timer this kind of thing would not encourage you to come and watch football week in week out and subject your kids to that kind of abuse, as parents we want to protect our kids and that may mean not taking them to matches, this is really sad!! My son goes every week and has done since he was 5, so has his Dad, I cannot believe the language and hatred there is when the players are under achieving or when grown men have had too much to drink.

Yep, we had the 'well he goes home and away every week', I must've missed when that entitled you to stand up whenevr you want. Irrespective of that, my Dad has probably been to countless more games than they have, especially when he's lived in Northamptonshire for 30-odd years.

Just really annoyed me that other Barnsley fans could be so inconsiderate

Unfortunately on big days like that, people just start on the pop as soon as the bus starts moving.

as for the abuse thats society, i get grief for teenagers all the time in our street, when i ask them to move on. the bobbies are always down our end and its not me that calls em

Good idea but I think it would kill football. How many reds fans would travel away from home if they couldn`t have a drink?

This guy I saw wasn't with a walking stick, he was some silly old dude who wanted to fight all the time. Its good job he didnt have a stick or I reckon someone would have been hit with it.

Was also a woman who stood up for no reason for the last 5mins of the game

The stewards should chuck anyone who stands up straight out of the ground. These inconsiderates really make me mad. They forget that children can't see when their fat inebriated bodies are in the way, or that the elderly or infirm can't easily rise to their feet.

agree theres no need for anyone to stand up in all seater stadia, but think this is a massive over-reaction. god only knows how you would all have gone on in the 70s, remember vividly as a 6 year old being taken to the leeds man city match by my dad when corrigan got assaulted on the pitch, with serious violence in and outside the ground, not to mention what used to happen at barnsley matches! this didnt have any negative impact on me as a child. think you'd all be better off going to watch england play cricket (which i do), being surrounded by middle class arseholes politely applauding and being terribly nice! thought the atmosphere on sunday was appalling, non-existant, if you'd all had your way it would have been funereal!

Or just apply the rules that exist already, if you're drunk you don't come in. Nothing wrong with somebody having a pint or two before the game but thousands at wembley were absolutly out of it.

The problem is when the person in front of you stands up you have no choice but to yourself....

It has a knock on effect but some poor b*gger takes the stick for it when someone finally decides not to follow the 20 rows in front standing up.

That's understandable, but those in front of me just kept standing for no real reason (those in front of them weren't stood - well except one of their mates - who incidentally, kept getting told to sat down by one of their lot). You can understand when the front row stands, like you said, a knock on effect ensues, but I just cant see an excuse otherwise

What would you do in this situation?

Half 3, a few players are out warming up, stadium is practically empty with seats all around empty, you're stood talking and the two people behind you (with nobody else on their row at all) tells you to sit down?
