last time they carried out an expensive an unnecessary improvement to the ground.....

...didn't they end up in Division 4 as a consequence? Now I'm not saying that history will repeat itself but we can only hope........

    Tevez Money?

he ain't spent any of that. McCabe seems to only be bothered about hotels, big stadia and sh*tty Chinese/Hungarian nursery clubs instead of concentrating on Fritzl United, who are on a rapid decline.

And lets hope the rapid decline continues for a very long time.

The only reason why he hasn't spent the Tevez money is

because he hasn't got any of it yet. And even when they do recieve some money it's going to be in yearly installments of £5million a year.

I heard that Wednesday are getting a hefty grant from Sheffield City council to improve there ground so maybe the Blunts are getting something similar.

Why the **** do we want Sheffield has a host city for the W.C?

Manchester is an hour away, we have enough stadiums in the country without using that shocking excuse of a city. Wednesday sit there massively in debt, no money and a stadium falling to bits to be bailed out by a grant to bring their stadium up to World Cup standards.

    Old Trafford
    City of Manchester
Anfield/New Anfield (if ever built in time)
    Villa Park
    St James Park
    Stadium of Light
    Emirates
    Wembley
    White Hart Lane (new stadium?)
    Stamford Bridge

How many stadia do you need?

Bristol City are building a new stadium to host too I think.

    12 used in Germany

I went to the last World Cup, Germany is a huge country top to bottom and travel between games was a 2 hour train journey, you can get London to Newcastle by train in 4-5hrs (nearly the full length of the country), the stadiums don't have to be exactly spread all over the country.

Could Twickenham, or even Millenium, Ibrox and Celtic Park be used if its to become a UK World Cup venue?

It appears to change a lot.

    1990: 12
    1994: 9
    1998: 10
    2002: 20 (two countries hosted)
    2006: 12
    2010: 10
    2014: 12

Current rules say that you have to have a minimum of 8 cities and a maximum of 10 and that only one city can have two stadiums which would say to me that the minimum stadiums is 8 and maximum is 11 but south africa have been given permission to have 12 different cities hosting it.

    It's an 'England' host bid.

So, no. I'd imagine if they were considering Scottish or Welsh venues, then it would have been announced back when they started the bid.

And, another point, which I'm not 100% certain about. I thought that only one City was allowed to have two venues. With London being the capital and having the better transport links, you'd expect the two venues to be there.

So does that mean that London would only be able to have Wembley and the Emirates for example?

That would be a waste as the new Spurs stadium and Stamford Bridge should be used too. It makes sense especially with Tube etc.
