I want one. No I want ten. Apple are so far ahead of anyone else in terms of design and innovation. A TOUCHSCREEN iPod/mobile phone/TV/desktop, all the size of an ipod. Gimme gimme.

    Looks pretty nifty

But will probably be overpriced like everything else apple sells, which is a shame because they are good quality products. I would have bought a Mac by now if it weren't for the price.

Not out until after Summer and it will be over £330 according to the Beeb. Don't get too carried away, it's not much different from my P990i, which is also touch screen and can play PSP videos. The camera is also only 2 mega pixels (same as mine), I thought they would have gone for a higher spec.

    Thats a mock-up

Windhill's picture is the actual iPhone. I agree that Apple's stuff is often too pricey, and the cost of the iPhone will put me off at least for a while. But they are so shiny and lovely.

I never quite got that mate. Why would anyone want an 80gb Ipod?

I had a 20gb one when they first came out- it was so full of music that I ended up only listening to the most recent albums I put on there and all the rest was just clutter. I was just loading music on I'd never listen to just so I felt I wasn't wasting the memory capacity.

I suppose these new fangled video ones mean you need more memory, but I swapped my ipodfor a 2gb sony walkman and I'm more than happy with the memory size.

As for having MP3, TV, Diary, Phone, Internet, washing machine etcall on the same device- well its all well and good till you get shedded one night and lose the bleeder. You've got nowt then!

RE: I never quite got that mate. Why would anyone want an 80gb Ipod?

I have a 30Gb one and its almost full with my CD collection - even though i have yet to put my classical stuff on there.

I stick it on shuffle, plug it into an iTrip FM transmitter and then listen in awe as something I haven't listened to in ages comes through my car stereo.

the iPhone looks lovely, however, its too big for my liking, I put my phone in my pocket with my keys or my change, its lovely shiny touchscreen will become shredded very quickly if I can get in in there in the first place. It would look lovely on my coffetable, but its jjust not practical.

    Here you go......

    "

The iPhone does not use a keyboard, nor does it use a stylus, as many smartphones do today. The device uses new technology called "Multitouch."

"We're going to use the best pointing device in our world," said Jobs. "We're born with 10 of them, our fingers."

Multitouch is far more accurate than any touch display, according to Jobs. It ignores unintended touches, supports multifingers gesture. "And boy, have we patented it," he added.

The iPhone runs Mac OS X, said Jobs. "Why would we run such a sophisticated operating system on a mobile device? It's got everything we need," he said. "It's got multitasking, networking, power management, awesome security and the right apps. It's got all the stuff we want. And it's built right in to iPhone. And has let us create desktop-class applications and networking.

IPhone also synchronizes through iTunes. It syncs media, contact information, calendars, photos, notes, bookmarks, e-mail accounts. "All that stuff can be moved over the iPhone completely automatically," Jobs said.

The iPhone features a 3.5-inch, 160 dot-per-inch colour screen. There's a small "Home" button on it. It's also remarkably thin – 11.6 millimeters, thinner than any smartphone out there, according to Jobs.

On one side, the iPhone sports a ring/silent switch, volume up and down controls. On its silver back side is a 2 megapixel digital camera. The bottom features a speaker, microphone and iPod dock connector.

The iPhone will come in two versions, a 4GB US$499 model, and an 8GB $599 model with a two-year contract. Both will be available beginning in June. Cingular will be the exclusive US carrier. Jobs said Apple anticipates bringing the iPhone to Europe in the fourth calendar quarter of 2007, and Asia in 2008.

Ah, but massive music collection = massive ****.

And I've just about filled my 80gb 'pod (wicked) I had a 20gb Zen Touch, which was great, but I was forever deleting stuff to put summat else on - did mi 'ead in, so took the plunge just before Christmas. Currently ploughing through all the vinyl to gerrit on ter t'pod.

I even ditched my contract mobile which 'did everything' as all I needed were calls & texts. Flogged the phone and put my sim in a £20 payg handset. Sorted.

    Phone

    Camera

    Ipod

You're not a real man unless you carry at least three gadgets at all times.
