Anyone up to speed on environmental health stuff?

    Reason I ask is:

Round the corner from where I live are some council flats.

One of the elderly residents was found dead in his bed - he'd been dead for approximately 2 weeks or so.

Today, seems like the council entered the flat and removed the bed and bedding, and have just dumped it round the side of the building. Now, I'm guessing the bedding is going to be pretty horrible - all the fluids will have escaped from the body, and perhaps (I'm guessing) maybe some flesh stuck to the bedding too.

It's not a particularly nice thought; and can't be too nice for the people overlooking it either.

Should the council have removed it immediately - or is it ok or usual practice to leave material like that laying round?

Sorry if I've put anyone off their lunch.
