Occasionally

Use the 3 PAYG one put either 1G or 3G on at a time and lasts up to a month

Picked it as it was the only one that worked in Dawlish when we needed it.

Seems to work OK whenever we have tried - though a bit slow in Wombwell.

Vodafone have a special offer on their contract - 7.50 a month and that generally gets better press - though I havent used it. Didnt work in Dawlish - 3 Did hence the choice

I've used it to set up for an employee and thought its was utter toss for the cost. poor connection coverage and speed...

Just check online phone companys. Costs about 15 quid a month with Orange and you get a free dongle + 3GB of download usage a month.

I use the Vodafone plug in USB dongle for work (they pay!), works well everywhere I've used it - fairly quick and never had any connection problems even when abroad.

Check coverage, it really depends on where you plan to use it

All UK mobile operators offer it and all for about teh same price

The new pay as you go offer from Vodafone is probably the best at the moment, but I repeat again check coverage in the area you plan to use it and any could be best for you. you can check on their websites.

    I use one regularly

Or at least as regularly as it's prepared to work properly. Got mine in June with 3. £15 per month & 3Gig of downloads. It's reasonably quick too.

The thing is, when it decides to **** about, it REALLY fecks about. There seems to be no pattern to it either. It's as likely to disconnect when the weather is warm & sunny as it is during a thunderstorm. It can also run for hours when the signal strength is only showing 1 bar yet kick me off every few minutes when it's showing 5 bars. When it kicks me out, sometimes it lets me back on straight away, on others it can take well over an hour.

I suppose it's like any other piece of technology, it's great when it's working but when it goes wrong, it can really test your patience!

    Ha ha

But not one to be proud of. Could have done without the delayed kick off. I had to leave 10 minutes from the end because I was running out of time.

    I'd check the coverage first

I find 3G to be good in the towns and cities, but not so good at home.

I've got one through work ... I work for Vodafone

It's really good and they're always sending round internal communication to say we've just had somene else say ours it the best.

They need to check out the coverge in their area, because data speeds can vary ... some places are fast ... others haven't yet got the newest fastest kits at the transmitter. They can plug their postcode into here

    http://maps.vodafone.co.uk/coverageviewer/web/default.aspx

Also there's a monthly volume allowance, and if you go over the 3gig it gets expensive quickly. Although 3gig is more than enough for browsing, if her 12 year old starts doing file sharing, she might get a nasty shock ... I'm pretty sure you can set the software to switch off if you reach the download limit though.

I found the Vodaphone very poor

I just bought one for my Son on 12 months contract. The speed was very poor, took ages to load a page and downloads, forget it. I had my contract this week with a 14 day cancellation clause. Promptly returned it today.
