Anyone use 'Steam' for their computer games, eg Football Manager?

Even though I've been using it a while slightly confused by how it works.

Basically I think it needs uninstalling and re-installing on my PC as it's cocking up... will I lose my saved games?

From what I understand the games are saved on your account rather than your PC so it should be okay?

Spent bloody hours getting Barnsley in the Prem and building a youth squad of future stars to help me rule the world with the Tarn and don't want to lose it! :D

    If you uninstall steam

make a backup copy of your saved games first just in case. They are saved on your hard drive but can't remember where exactly...something like C:/valve/steam/steamapps/common but where exactly the saved game files are will depend on the game. Sorry can't be more helpful!

Copy your savegame file into My Documents.

I don't use Steam so mine is in 'My Documents/Sports Interactive/Football Manager 2009/games/..'

Think I've read that if you use Steam it will be in 'Program Files/Steam/etc..'

look in the games directory in program files\steam\fm09.. etc.. saved games, copy all your games.

go into steam, options > backup games (something like that anyway) and back them up to CD/DVD

    Overrated

nothing better than hours shovelling coal into a furnace waiting for enough heat and pressure to build up to drive the pistons to get the hard drive spinning.

Personally I think games lost something when they stopped being powered by slaves.

You might want to save your tactics too.

Best off to zip your tactics, saves, etc and put 'em into My Docs'.
