is it any good or should it be avoided... it keeps doing its best to getting me to install it, but not certain I want it. All advice will be appreciated .
Use it at home without much of a problem. The old scanner is no longer compatible, but thats the only issue I've found. Be aware though that MS have changed the behaviour of the prompt and the red cross now starts to install it apparently...
What are you using now? It can be good, but it can be really infuriating at times. The notification alert particularly pisses me off.
Just turn it off then! You can control what notifications you get as well if you don't want to turn it off altogether. See link http://www.digitaltrends.com/comput...ons-action-center-windows-10/#:c0nVDMCSdC0hFA
Had it several months now (August I think) no issues at all with it. Certainly better than Win8. However, I also have a Win7 laptop and to be honest I would stick with 7, so it depends what you'd be upgrading from. Also worth noting that my Win7 machine never nags me to get Win10, trouble is I can't remember what I did to stop it....
Tried it before but went back to 7, tried it again and it's much improved and my laptop runs faster. Minor issues, on another laptop I updated the graphics driver didn't update automatically but that was quickly solved by going into Device Manager and updating from there.
I installed it about a month ago. Suddenly there was no volume control on youtube so I use Chrome for that now. Also the screensaver never comes on. You get used to it.
If youve got the time & patience do what i did :- 1. Clone your existing Win 7 Hard Drive to another Hard Drive 2. Let windows 10 install itself on the cloned Hard Drive 3. Remove all Windows 10 Notifications / Files on your original Win 7 Hard Drive using GWX Control Panel Download here :- http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/gwx_control_panel.html 4.Configure your machine for dual booting , Win 7 & Win10 2 for the price of 1 u reds
I finally switched last week after getting all sorts of problems whilst using windows 7, eg Internet Explorer wouldn't work. I did a full backup first but didn't need to, it went well. I haven't had any problems since. Much better than Windows 8.
I had Windows 8 on my laptop and I upgraded that to to 10. I prefer it on that, but I have left 7 on my desktop and I prefer that to both. Also, Microsoft have now set Windows 10 as a recommended update. Most machines are configured to install recommended updates automatically, so you may want to look into disabling that if you do not wish to upgrade.
