Worse thing that happened was portsmouth getting deducted 10 points, if we had gone down and kept Hill in league 1 we would have been better off now
what was even worse was allowing Robins to walk away when he wanted some cash to take us forward. instead we chose to cut the cloth and goto the bargain basement, and havent recovered from it yet.
He'd spent a bundle and done sweet FA with it. I wouldn't have trusted him with more I'd I owned the club.
but we were steady under Robins, relegation wasnt a problem under him. just look at whats happened since then though, a number of penny pinching managers who have taken us further backwards.
I'd be handing my season ticket in if we appointed that lovely person again. That said, today was awful. Not a single facet of our play was acceptable. If those performances continue (the last three league games were terrible) then we'll be looking for another manager by November.
Really ? do you think that the managers have the slightest control as to how much money is available to spend on transfers and wages ?
Looking at wikepedia we've had 44 managerial spells since 1898, including caretaker spells. The first 22 spanned 91 years to Eric Winstanley in 1989. The next 22 have taken just 26 years up to LJ. The longest in this spell is Wilson's 4 years in the 90s, which wasn't even the average in the first period. Switching manager ever 12 months in panic isn't working so we need to give him another year at least to establish something solid.
