    Bobby Thomas, what a player he was for us. Best of that back three I’m convinced and bags of years of growth to boot. He was a true Rolls Royce of a player.

    Completely forgot about this game till I just saw this thread now. I was at the cinema watching the Blade Runner sequel again this evening anyway (what a film!). It’s a shame Maidstone couldn’t have got a consolation goal. When I’ve seen Barnsley get outclassed in big cup ties I just want us to score a goal at least. Then again, I remember celebrating Steve Foster’s goal at Anfield, not cos we’d equalised, not cos we were back in the tie and had a chance of winning (I didn’t think we had a chance of winning until just before the final whistle, and only thought we had a chance of drawing about a minute before Howard’s winner!), but simply cos at least we scored a goal, and look what happened there!
