AR " i had a chat with the chairman on thursday and there is no contract offer on the table , at least not for the foreseeable future , i feel let down and disapointed".
Is this the correct chronology of events? (1) We'll talk at Christmas (2) There's no rush - in any other business it wouldn't be a problem ... blah, blah, blah (3) **** - Wednesday have come in - erm, let's talk about a contract (4) Andy can choose the length of his contract (5) We've had talks - the contracts are with the Lawyers (6) There is no contract on the table He should've been given a contract before the season started. If Gord thinks that not having his Manager signed on a contract that lasts beyond the end of the season isn't important ... then he's in the wrong business. Stability comes from the top. Simple as that.
This is now on the main BBC sport website. It is what I said last week would happen. AR is now fighting back after keeping his counsel until after this weekend's game. It is a flush out the chairman statement. The next few hours/days are critical.
But how can they move forward after this? AR ( and everyone else) was told that there was a contract on the table. Now talks will not happen. To me that means the contract has been withdrawn. We've gone from "hoping to sign it soon" to "dismayed and dissapointed" in a matter of weeks. How can AR would under this cloud?
RE: But how can they move forward after this? It was AR making the statements though, not the club. They confirmed talks were underway but never put a timescale on it. Dont you think the current focus should be on winning matches and strengthening the squad?
Absolutely 2 must win games ahead. if we dont put some points on the board in the next 2 games then its looking very bleak indeed.
Yes. I do. But by the same token I don't see how AR can move forward when it seems he was offered a contract. Correct me if I am wrong, but I'm sure Mr Shepherd said "it's with the lawyers". It's also a fair point that knowing who might be in charge could have an affect on the recruitment of new players. I believe that his position is untenable
And wages. And signing on fees. And selling the club. And belief. don't over simplfy the situation. Unless we're now saying that AR does not make phone calls?
it involves certain people doing their own job and leaving the manager to do his.
It involves him either being given money to spend on players or being told that he hasn't got money. Not having other people choosing who he can spend the money on.
It involves him knowing that he is wanted.
It involves him knowing that he will be backed.
What it doesn't involve is being undermimed in public over the airwaves.

RE: Fighting back? I think some are missing the point here. Yes players need to be signed, points need to be got etc, etc , etc. BUT GS has totally destabilised the club by saying (and I quote NOT think) AR just has to name the length of his contract, refused SW to talk to AR and now won't back him. a. No player or member of management team has any confidence to move forward b.how do you sign players when the first thing they ask - will you be there before I play my first game? c If he does sack AR would YOU work for a man who says one thing and does another? I wouldn't. GS will now either backtrack or sack.
